Information on Japan’s quarantine regulations
In response to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the Japanese government has strengthened quarantine in order to reduce the number of new infections. The following information is a transcript of the announcement made by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. Please check the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare website for more information.
Quarantine flow and necessary procedures
1: Submit negative PCR test results obtained within 72 hours prior to departure.
As of March 19, 2021, all visitors to Japan will not be allowed to enter the country without a certificate of negative PCR test results for the new coronavirus within 72 hours prior to departure.
2: Stay in accommodation secured by the quarantine office and submit written pledge
Depending on the country/region you were in before entering Japan, you will be required to wait in accommodation secured by the quarantine office. After entering Japan, you will be required to submit a written pledge that will forbid the use of public transportation for 14 days, stay at home, save and present your location information, and install a contact confirmation application. (Click here for details)

The medical questionnaire will be checked at the time of quarantine, so please fill it out in advance and present the QR code issued at the time of quarantine. You will need to download a government-specified application to your smartphone in order to confirm your location and contact information. If you do not have a smartphone, you can rent one at the airport.
Vaccine Passport Holders:
If you have a vaccination certificate issuded by the countries designated by the Japanese government, you will be exempted from the 3 days quarantine at accommodations secured by the quarantine office or 14 days self-quarantine may be shortened. (Click here for further details)
